MMDS jamming 5G network - Zhuzhou MMDS jamming 5G network

Test Background

Multiple 5G base stations of an operator in the urban area of Zhuzhou were interfered by 2515MHz-2558MHz. The PRB waveform was obtained and it was found that there were multiple broadband signals, and there was interference at all times.

Test process one:

From the frequency domain, the bandwidth is about 8MHz, and the coverage is about 60km.

Test process two:

Select the antenna where the most interfered 5G base station is located for testing. When pointing to the south side of the base station, the interference signal is found. The peak value is about -100dBm, and the signal characteristics are consistent with the PRB waveform monitored in the background.

Test process three:

Before entering the mountain, select the location where the signal tower on the top of Junshan Mountain can be seen visually. When the directional antenna points to the signal tower, it can receive the same MMDS characteristic signal as the previous test, and the signal disappears when pointing in other directions.

Arriving at Junshan Temple platform on the top of Junshan Mountain, when the directional antenna points to the signal tower, the peak value can reach about -78dBm, and there is no signal in other directions. It consists of 6 8MHz broadband signals, occupying the 2510MHz-2558MHz frequency band, confirming the MMDS signal tower. source of interference.

Summary:

Multi-channel microwave distribution system (MMDS) is a microwave system that transmits TV, sound broadcasting and data signals to the front end of each cable TV public antenna TV system or directly distributes it to individual users by means of one-point transmission and multi-point reception using microwave frequencies. According to my country's MMDS transmission and transmission TV channel configuration, MMDS operating in the 2500-2700MHz frequency range will cause serious interference to 5G systems deployed in the 2.6GHz frequency band. The interference is characterized by multiple regular continuous 8MHz bandwidth rectangular interference waveforms.
